Chasing Cars Car Studio

The Brief

Chasing Cars, a leading automotive video publisher, needed a flexible, professional-grade space tailored to high-end car reviews and cinematic storytelling. Their vision was clear: a large-scale studio that could accommodate full-size vehicles, provide total control over lighting, and elevate production value.

The Build

To meet their needs, we designed and delivered a fully integrated studio solution:

• 10m x 8m U-shaped white cyclorama: A clean, continuous backdrop large enough to handle vehicles with room to move.

• 6m x 8m overhead softbox: Custom-built to provide soft, even lighting across the entire shooting zone.

• DMX-controlled RGB wall lighting: Fully programmable for dramatic color washes, ambient looks, or precise accent lighting.

• Discreet infrastructure: All rigging and cabling were concealed to maintain a tidy, production-ready environment.

A Collaborative Process

From the outset, this project was a true collaboration. Early meetings clarified the technical direction:

As the design progressed, lighting became a major focal point:

“We’d love the ability to throw a clean, soft light from above, but still be able to punch in some color or edge light on demand.”

The space was already in use before final installation was complete — a testament to how seamlessly our team worked within a live environment:

The Result

A purpose-built automotive studio that balances scale, flexibility, and creative control:

• Vehicles can roll in and out easily

• Backgrounds shift seamlessly between pure white, soft tones, or bold colors

• Lighting is consistent, cinematic, and programmable

• The studio supports both editorial content and commercial shoots

The studio has since become the visual engine behind Chasing Cars’ evolving content — powering everything from car reviews to launch features and branded segments.
